Meacham has maintained its family culture, and retained its core group of employees who helped to shape this culture – which is represented by 150 employees and 50 trade partners who receive the latest training and OSHA certifications.
The History Behind D.L. Meacham
Chad Meacham, now a partner of D.L. Meacham Construction company, is the grandson of the founder, D.L. Meacham Sr. D.L. Meacham and his wife, Annette Meacham, started the company in 1979, primarily focusing on residential projects. Through the downturn of the late 80s, D.L. Meacham’s son, Larry Meacham, sought hardscape work in several outside communities of the outer Los Angeles area. In doing so, the Meacham family built a relationship with a contractor and negotiated the largest contract the company had ever done – Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.
Chad Meacham was introduced to his first construction projects in the early 90s. Upon graduation in 2007, Chad Meacham started full-time as a project manager for several significant projects in Houston. In 2013, the City of Houston development cycle began its climb and there was momentum in new master planned communities. The success of D.L. Meacham projects like Bridgeland, Josie Ranch Park, Cinco Ranch, and Cross Creek Ranch allowed for 4 years of rapid revenue growth. In this time, Chad Meacham became an official partner of D.L. Meacham.
In 2012, DL Meacham LP was selected by the Wood Group Companies as the contractor at risk to develop and to construct their Kenedy Campus and fabrication facilities.
The Kenedy campus project is an 18 acre site that consisted of a 250 employee housing complex, a multi-use commissary facility, and a 22,000 s/f training /office building, along with 6 acres of paving with the entire infrastructure.
They were also given the task of coordinating the offsite dry and wet utilities that had to be brought in from several miles away. There are 2ea 8,000 s/f fabrication / office facilities that were also part of this package, […] complete with 10 ton cranes and complete welding stations. Both facilities are at different locations.
The overall project budget was 12 million dollars to be completed within 15 months. The actual construction cost netted close to a 15% savings to [WOOD GROUP PSN] and the aggressive schedule […] for the completion of the project was met.

KGA DEFOREST DESIGN:
We have had the opportunity to work with DL Meacham Construction for nearly thirty years. We are always pleased to recommend them, as we know we can depend on them to get the job done.
The high quality of work that we have come to expect from DL Meacham is very important to our clients and our[selves]. They [have] truly become part of the project team with the same goals as the client.
But equally important is how promptly and proactively they respond to circumstances that arise during and after construction. They can be counted on to resolve issues and stand by their work; in many cases after warranty periods have expired.
We are always pleased when we see that DL Meacham has been the successful bidder for our projects as we know that we can depend on them to provide first-class service and expertise and that the client will be happy with the project that they receive.

HOUSTON PARKS BOARD:
The Houston Parks Board has [completed] many projects with D.L. Meacham over the last fifteen years. The two largest of these projects [include] the Houston Amateur Sports Parks and the Lee and Joe Jamail Skate Park.
The Houston Amateur Sports Park project involved [the] construction of seven sports fields, lighting, parking, fencing, walkways, landscaping, irrigation and a maintenance facility. The project was completed in 2011 with a construction budget of nearly $3 million.
Both of these projects included incredibly tight construction schedules, and [required] a great deal of value engineering to keep the projects within budget, due to outside influences which began once construction started […] D.L. Meacham went above what could be expected to work with us as their client to complete the projects. The quality of work and attention to detail are the best that I have encountered. I would highly recommend them for a project.
Conservation and Maintenance Director, Houston Parks Board
DL Meacham has [completed] work as a general contractor, as well as a sub-contractor [in] numerous landscape companies in the Houston area, for many projects that I’ve been involved with at SWA.
There is a certain level of confidence that I have when D.L. Meacham is on the job that is not always present on other job sites. I can always count on craftsmanship being of top-notch quality and construction progress staying on schedule.
If a problem does pop up, as they inevitably do in construction, DL Meacham is willing to work through the issues in creative and cost-effective ways.
I commend the work of DL Meacham and I look forward to working together for many years to come.
